About the Lummi Commercial Company
The Lummi Commercial Company is a privately-held company, wholly-owned by the Lummi Nation. Founded in 2000, the company has developed a diverse portfolio that includes the Lummi Bay Markets brand, the Silver Reef Casino & Resort, and Loomis Trail Golf. And has become one of the largest employers in Whatcom County. The purposes for which the Lummi Commercial Company was organized are as follows:
A. To develop, maintain, and operate Lummi tribal retail and commercial enterprises as delegated by the LIBC.
B. To generate revenue for the strengthening of tribal self-government.
C. To develop business expertise in the management and administration of tribal retail and commercial enterprises.
D. To enhance employment opportunities for tribal members.
E. To support tribal member entrepreneurship and businesses.
A History of Business
2000
- The Lummi Indian Business Council forms the Lummi Commercial Company (LCC) to maintain and operate tribal retail and commercial enterprises and generate revenue for the strengthening of tribal self-government
- The Fisherman’s Cove and Lummi Minimart operations move under the management of the LCC
2001
- Silver Reef Casino opens its doors
2010
- The LCC powers on the 48-feet wide digital billboard adjacent to Interstate-5
2011
- 260 Tobacco and Fine Spirits opens it doors and drive-thru
2014
- Skippers & Pizzanini QSR opens
2015
- The LCC begins operating the Cafe in the LIBC Administration Center
2018
- Acquisition of the crown jewel of the Washington golfing community, Loomis Trail Golf Course.
2019
- The old Cove Store closes and makes way a new, larger store: Lummi Bay Market at Fisherman’s Cove, featuring a wider selection, new fuel pumps, and the Cove Kitchen.
2020
- Salish Village Phase One opens with the launch of the Lummi Bay Market at Exit 260. The 26 acre site includes a 9,800 square foot convenience store, 16 fuel lanes, a tobacco & liquor drive-thru, a quick-serve-restaurant, and a separate truck stop with 8-diesel-lanes and driver store. The site also has 6 additional outpads for even more customer services.
2021
- The LCC powers on its second 48-feet wide digital billboard adjacent to Interstate-5
